How does the Dura-Trac system operate in a wind generator? More efficiently than existing motors. See paragraph below for link to technical paper.
Animation of Dura-Trac in operation. PPT with Animation (Slide 4)
Technical paper published at University of Maryland. The study was an analysis of
potential efficiencies gained in generating electricity with the Dura-Trac motor compared to induction motors and other permanent magnet motors.
The conclusion of the study is that installing the Dura-Trac system in a wind generator:
- Increases the range of wind speeds at which electricity is generated
- Increases the overall output of electricity significantly
- Shortens the payback period
- Eliminates the need to tie the generator to the utility’s grid
- Reduces projected maintenance cost — bearings can be changed in the field, e.g.
- Increases “up time”
