Make Your PM Motor More Efficient!

Capture the benefits of DuraTrac technology by updating an existing in-line or hub motor. DuraTrac technology can be incorporated into many existing motor designs with limited engineering expense.

The “merged” motor will have a patented mechanical shift that increases efficiency at higher rpm’s. The gains in efficiency will be substantial, although not quite as much as with a ground-up DuraTrac design.

Reliability and durability of a mechanical shift are not an issue.  Cummins Engine torture-tested DuraTrac before including in their retrofit hybrid-electric drive system for heavier trucks.

To maintain simplicity and reduce cost, the mechanical shift of the rotor and stator will be limited to two-positions – fully engaged (no shift) and partially engaged – probably 30% or 50%. The percentage shift will depend on the application and available space.
