Urban Driving. DuraTrac Helps Range.
The most obvious application for 100%-electric truck is an urban area with many starts and stops. While most of the driving will be lower speed, there are segments where higher speeds are required. Without DuraTrac, efficiency at higher motor rpm’s falls off, thus shortening range and time available the truck can be in service. DuraTrac’s mechanical shifter will provide the same or more torque and extend the range.
100% Electric Medium/Heavy-Duty.
European Union has mandated that in 2025 CO2 emissions from heavy trucks must be 15% lower than a 2019-2020 baseline. The percentage reduction increases in 20230.
California Air Resources Board (CARB) apparently is considering that some or all new heavy trucks be 100% electric. No rules have been finalized but given the likely availability of 100%-electric trucks to meet European standards, CARB could approve some form of the mandate.
